Après huit ans d'absence, un Américain fera finalement partie du peloton de départ cette année. Il s'agira de Sargeant, à qui Williams a décidé de donner une chance après une saison réussie en F2 l'an dernier, où il a terminé quatrième. Son histoire pourrait être appelée le rêve américain. Après avoir terminé troisième en F3 en 2020, il n'avait pas les fonds nécessaires pour passer en F2, et il semblait qu'il allait devoir se retirer du milieu des voitures de sport. Mais il a finalement accepté de continuer en F3. Impressionnant Williams par ses performances, cette écurie l'a pris sous son aile et a fini par le faire entrer en F1.
