Regerend Formule 1-wereldkampioen Max Verstappen domineerde de Grand Prix van Japan en verzekerde zich van de overwinning voor zijn Red Bull-team met nog zes races te gaan om het wereldkampioenschap voor constructeurs veilig te stellen. De Nederlandse coureur versloeg Lando Norris met meer dan 19 seconden op het circuit van Suzuka. Oscar Piastri, een andere McLaren-coureur, kwam als derde over de finish en eiste daarmee zijn eerste podiumplaats in zijn carrière op.
