Vorig jaar liet de allereerste Chinees in de F1 zien dat zijn potentieel niet alleen uit marketing bestaat. Hij scoorde in totaal zes punten in de races, en zijn kwalificatiesnelheid was vaak beter dan die van zijn meer ervaren teamgenoot Bottas. Dit jaar zal hij proberen voort te bouwen op de ervaring van vorig jaar.
