Tijdens zijn debuutseizoen was hij echter vatbaarder voor rijfouten en ongedisciplineerd gedrag. Hoewel hij in het seizoen 2022 niet erg spetterend presteerde, en we opnieuw fouten met ongedisciplineerd gedrag van hem konden zien, stond hij veel dichter bij zijn meer ervaren collega Gasly. Tsunoda moet rekening houden dat andere Red Bull-junioren, zoals Liam Lawson, Dennis Hauger en Enzo Fittipaldi, ook naar zijn plaats dingen.
